Zhong Yinghua delivers lecture on Chinese teacher training in Thailand

To further deepen Sino-Thai educational cooperation and exchanges and enhance the quality of Chinese language education in Thailand, the 2024 Thailand Hundred Chinese Teachers Training event took place in Bangkok, Thailand, on Jan 18. Zhong Yinghua, chair of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching and director of the International Chinese Language Education Development Research Institute, co-founded by Tianjin Normal University (TNU) and relevant departments of the central government, was invited to deliver a speech at the opening ceremony and give the first expert lecture.

This three-day training activity saw the participation of representatives from relevant Chinese and Thai institutes, experts from famous Chinese universities, and over one hundred Chinese language teachers from 69 local Thai schools, becoming the largest-scale and highest-level professional training event for local teachers in Thailand.

Zhong pointed out in his speech that international Chinese education is a specific means and a carrier for promoting cultural exchanges between China and other countries. In recent years, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation at the Ministry of Education has been constructing an open and inclusive international Chinese language education pattern and promoting the development of teaching teams and materials. These efforts have led to new breakthroughs, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality development of international Chinese education.

Zhong also highlighted that as for now, Chinese education in Thailand has achieved leapfrog development and significant results. This training activity is expected to further contribute to the high-quality development of Chinese education in Thailand and promote closer relations between China and Thailand.

In the first special lecture of the day, Zhong focused on such topics as the interpretation of international Chinese language education policies, the practical role of international Chinese language education standards, and the new characteristics of international Chinese language education demand, emphasizing the goals and specifications of international Chinese language teaching, the practice of teaching concepts, and teaching skills and techniques. The lecture resonated among participants and elicited an enthusiastic response.
