Zhong Yinghua, chair of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching, recently led a team from Tianjin Normal University (TNU) to promote international Chinese education in Thailand.

During the visit in Thailand, Zhong and the TNU delegation attended the 8th ASEAN+3 Youth Camp Cultural Exchange at Bansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University.

Zhong pointed out that TNU has established a cooperative relationship with the Thai university for 18 years, in which time the two sides have achieved remarkable results in various fields, such as educational and cultural exchanges, academic cooperation, and youth talent training. The Confucius Institute jointly established by the two sides has been awarded the title of Global Advanced Confucius Institute three times. Over 100,000 people have benefited from the Chinese language teaching training and cultural practice activities organized by TNU and the local authorities. He expressed his hope that the two sides would continue to make new and greater contributions to the China-Thailand community with a shared future.

Zhong and his team also visited Navamindradhiraj University, the only higher education institution among over 430 schools under the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and had an in-depth exchange with the leader of the university and relevant representatives. Both parties have reached an intention to cooperate in establishing a Chinese language learning and testing center in Thailand.

At Dhurakij Pundit University, the two sides reached a cooperative consensus on further deepening the construction of the Silk Road Confucius Institute, student exchanges between China and Thailand, and the joint cultivation of international Chinese education professionals.

The team also attended the Thailand Chinese Language Education Exchange Seminar. As a specially invited expert, Zhong focused on the topic of Chinese education in Thailand, discussing its trends and characteristics, innovative teaching methods, and the cultivation of cross-cultural communication skills in Chinese education in Thailand.
