President of the Australian Chinese Language Teachers' Association visits TNU

Zhong Yinghua, the president of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching (ISCLT) and head of Tianjin Normal University (TNU), met with Li Fuxin, the president of the Australian Chinese Teachers' Association (ACTA) on January 26.

Li is also a standing executive member of ISCLT, the president of the Community Language Schools Association in the Australian Capital Region, and the principal of the Australian School of Contemporary Chinese (ASCC).

Zhong welcomed Li and praised the Australian Chinese Teachers' Association for its important role in Chinese language education in Oceania and Li's contributions to promoting Chinese language education in Australia. He said that TNU values international Chinese language education and academic exchanges, and established an international Chinese education research institute with the support of China's Ministry of Education to further development. He noted that TNU hopes to strengthen cooperation with Australian institutions and explore joint programs and cultural exchange activities to promote Chinese language education in Australia.

Li acknowledged the fruitful cooperation with the Australia Standard Chinese School, which started 16 years ago. He mentioned that ASCC plans to collaborate with TNU, leveraging the construction of the international Chinese education research institute, to implement teacher training initiatives, facilitate student exchange programs, and establish internship opportunities across various locations in Australia. He added that the ACTA will be active in academic activities of the World Chinese Language Teaching Association and cooperate in academic journal construction at home and abroad. Moreover, in September 2023, Australia will celebrate its first Chinese Language Day coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Standard Chinese School, and hopes to receive support from the World Chinese Language Teaching Association and Tianjin Normal University.

In September 2023, Australia will welcome its first Chinese Language Day, coinciding with the 20th anniversary of the founding of ASCC, and a series of important celebratory events will be held. Li said that he hopes to receive support from the World Chinese Language Teaching Association and TNU.

Li has made notable contributions to the development of Chinese language teaching and learning in Australia, and was awarded the "Outstanding Contribution Award for Overseas Chinese Language Education" by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of China's State Council.
