Zhong Yinghua receives honorary doctoral degree from BSRU in Thailand

The Mansomdejchaopraya Rajabhat University (BSRU) of Thailand awarded Professor Zhong Yinghua, president of China’s Tianjin Normal University (TNU), an honorary doctorate on May 23. The ceremony was held at TNU.

BSRU President Linda Gainma gave a specially tailored honorary gown to President Zhong prior to the ceremony, before representatives from both sides entered the venue wearing academic robes.

Representing BSRU’s Degree Committee and Board of Directors, Phisanu Bangkheow, the university’s vice-president, announced the award and delivered the honorary doctorate citation to Zhong.

"Professor Zhong Yinghua is an outstanding educational administrator with foresight, strategic thinking, rich experience, and remarkable vision. He has grasped the concept of international education in a timely manner, planned development goals with a global perspective, innovated organizational development strategies, and continuously deepened important educational exchanges with overseas partners, especially in the field of international Chinese education, where his experience and achievements are well-known. He is a visionary and innovative educator who has made significant contributions to international educational exchanges and cooperation,” Phisanu stated in his citation, adding that in recognition of this, BSRU’s Degree Committee and Board of Directors have decided to award Zhong an honorary doctorate in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development of international Chinese education and educational exchanges between China and Thailand.

Gainma presented Zhong with an honorary doctoral certificate and delivered a passionate speech. She praised Zhong's contributions to the development of international Chinese education, especially his work in promoting Sino-Thai education exchanges and encouraging the training of Chinese teachers in Thailand. “His rich experience and foresight have earned him a good reputation on both sides,” she said.

Zhong expressed his appreciation to BSRU for awarding him an honorary doctorate. “This is not just a personal honor, but also a symbol high-level respect and trust,” he said, adding that the visit of his Thai friends to Tianjin for the conferment of the honorary doctorate fully demonstrates the high mutual trust, deep emotions and beautiful expectations of the two universities for the future.

BSRU is a public comprehensive university in Thailand, and is known for its high-quality teaching. It offers honorary degrees to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to society in academic or other fields, with 30 awards granted so far, including 10 from overseas.
