The 2025 Tianjin Normal University (TNU) Chinese and International Youth Language and Culture Showcase was recently held. The event was attended byZhong Yinghua, president of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching (ISCLT), vice-director of the Science, Technology and Education Committee of the CPPCC Tianjin Municipal Committee and dean of the International Chinese Education Development Research Institute; and Dong Hongxia,deputy secretary of the CPC TNU Committee. Officials from the Exit-Entry Administration of the Tianjin Municipal Public Security Bureau and the Tianjin Overseas Chinese Federation were also in attendance. The audience included heads and representatives from relevant TNU functional departments, including the Publicity Department of the CPC TNU Committee, the Student Affairs Department of the CPC TNU Committee, and the Graduate School, as well as leaders, faculty,and staff members from the International Exchange Department of the CPC TNU Committee, the International Chinese Education Development Research Institute, and the College of International Education and Exchange.
The showcase commenced with a performance by a Chinese and international student octet choir. Through meticulously crafted Chinese-language programs, the international students vividly demonstrated their progress over the past year inpractical Chinese language applicationandculturalunderstanding.Their performances also allowed the audience to directly appreciate the creativity, mutual cultural learning, and integration among the younger generation from diverse backgrounds. The participants interpreted their unique stories with genuine emotion.Their acts were not only creatively vibrant but also filled with a deep affection and strong identification with Chinese culture. This event not only helped the international students immerse themselves more deeply in the Chinese cultural landscape but also built a solid bridge for fostering friendship and cooperation between Chinese and international youth.
As a refined cultural practice brand jointly nurtured by TNU's Chinese and international faculty and students over 25 years, the Chinese Language and Culture Showcase has become a tradition. This year's event highlighted an expression-driven teaching and learning philosophy. By leveraging diverse language and cultural practice platforms, it comprehensively displayed and enhanced the campus learning outcomes of international students. It helped participants forge deep friendships and become close companions through practical exchange, thereby fostering a sincere sentiment of understanding, friendship, and affection for China.
