The national finals of the 10th China Data Journalism Competition and the inaugural AIGC Application Competition were recently held in Zhuhai. Students from the School of Journalism and Communication at Tianjin Normal University (TNU) delivered an outstanding performance. In the Data Journalism Competition, a work created by the team of Liu Haozhi, Zhao Yining, and Li Xiaoman won the first prize, while a work by the team of Li Xiaoman, Zhao Yining, and Liu Haozhi secured the second prize. In the AIGC Application Competition, works by the team of Song Huan, He Furong, He Jiaxi, and Wu Dexiaoming, as well as another by the team of Li Xiaoman, Zhao Yining, and Liu Haozhi, both earned third prizes. Han Cheng and Feng Fan were both awarded the outstanding faculty advisor award.

In the earlier Tianjin division selections, seven entries from the school advanced, ultimately winning three second prizes, one third prize, and three merit prizes at the regional level. This achievement gave TNU the highest total number of awards among all participating universities in the Tianjin division. The winning works covered diverse, socially relevant topics including ecological construction, rural revitalization, and traditional culture.

The China Data Journalism Competition, established in 2015, is a professional national event in journalism education. This year's competition attracted over 1,400 teams from more than 300 universities across China. To align with the trend of intelligent communication, the competition introduced the AIGC Application Competition for the first time, focusing on innovation in intelligent communication, and aiming to drive innovation in teaching and practice through a dual emphasis on data and artificial intelligence.
These awards mark another breakthrough for TNU students, following a national first prize in the 9th competition. In recent years, TNU has actively promoted "using competitions to enhance learning and teaching," strengthening students' data literacy and technological application skills. Moving forward, TNU will continue to deepen teaching reforms, encouraging faculty and students to innovate and advance boldly in the field of journalism and communication, cultivating more high-quality talent for the industry in the new era.
