The THE Awards is known as the "Oscars of the higher education sector" and has a prestigious 14-year history in the UK higher education sector. The THE Awards Asia is its Asian regional awards.
Being introduced to Asia for the first time in 2019, THE Awards Asia has been providing a unique platform for Asian universities to showcase their stories and highlight their achievements and influence in various fields.
The International Strategy of the Year particularly aims to recognize universities that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in shaping university brands, building partnerships, expanding overseas operations, and developing strategies for foreign staff and international student recruitment.
TNU, as the president unit of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching, has invested in the construction of international Chinese education infrastructures and sophisticated smart education platforms. Focused on meeting the needs of Chinese learners worldwide, TNU aims to create a top-tier international Chinese education hub.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the People's Government of Tianjin Municipality, TNU has established the International Chinese Teacher Education College; and partnered with the Center for Language Education and Cooperation under China's Ministry of Education, it has established the "Research Institute for the Development of International Chinese Education" as a practical research base.
To date, the university has dispatched a total of 1,178 international Chinese teacher volunteers to 49 countries to conduct overseas Chinese language teaching practice, which has enhanced the international brand of TNU's international Chinese language teacher education and its global visibility and influence.
This marks the first time that TNU has been shortlisted for a prestigious international higher education award, marking a historic breakthrough for the university in promoting high-level education and international openness.
The THE Awards Asia 2025 received over 500 submissions from teams or universities across Asia. The winning universities and projects will be officially awarded at the THE Asia Universities Summit in Macao, China on April 22.
