The International Chinese Education Column Construction Symposium, hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation at the Ministry of Education and the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching, was held on March 31 in Guangzhou, Guangdong province. Leaders of multiple Chinese language education institutes, experts from the Chinese language teaching industry and representatives of media outlets participated in the event.
Zhong Yinghua, chair of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching and head of the International Chinese Education Development Research Institute at Tianjin Normal University (TNU), attended the symposium and delivered a speech.

Zhong said that the International Chinese Language Education Society has been committed to promoting academic research and the transformation of its results, and to building a community for international academic exchanges in Chinese language education. Since 2021, it has established the international Chinese language education column in high-level academic journals. After more than three years, the column has achieved remarkable results, attracting increasingly positive responses and enthusiastic participation from high-level journals. As of now, 30 high-level academic journals at home and abroad have opened international Chinese education columns in their publications.

At the symposium, the representatives of three journals, including Applied Linguistics, Journal of Research on Education for Ethnic Minorities and TCSOL Studies, shared their ideas, experiences, achievements, and future prospects regarding the construction of the international Chinese language education column.
This event aims to promote high-quality development of the international Chinese language education column and to build an independent academic discourse system for international Chinese language education. Participants have gathered to engage in in-depth discussions and exchanges on supporting the construction of the discipline of international Chinese language education.
