Chen Daiwei, vice-president of TNU, extended a warm welcome to the VUB delegation. He emphasized that Tianjin, as one of the earliest and largest coastal open cities in northern China, has a long history of cooperation with Belgium. TNU is the inheritor of a century-old tradition of teacher education in Tianjin and the birthplace of the city's basic education culture. The university adheres to an open approach to education, engages in extensive international exchanges and cooperation, has been offering education to international students for 60 years, and possesses a first-class international Chinese education base in China. Chen expressed great optimism with regard to the cooperation of the two universities in education exchange, talent cultivation and scientific research collaboration.

Professor Karin Vanderkerken, vice president of VUB, introduced the basic situation and historical development of the VUB. The university is committed to educational innovation and development, offering a wide range of disciplines and maintaining a high level of internationalization, continuously providing students with opportunities for overseas study and exchange. VUB sincerely welcomes the faculty and students of TNU to visit and exchange.

During the meeting, the two universities reached preliminary cooperation intentions regarding Belgian students participating in long- and short-term study programs in China, student exchanges between the two universities and this year's summer research camp project.

VUB is a renowned comprehensive research university in Europe with first-class teaching and research standards. Throughout its century-long history, VUB has seen a number of its alumni to be the winners of the Nobel Prize and the Fields Medal.
