Recently, students from the School of Music and Film at Tianjin Normal University (TNU) conducted a cultural exchange and performance activity in South Korea.

Invited by Sehan University, TNU's faculty and students highly valued this opportunity and have specially presented the classical dance "Twelve Flower Fairies".

This classic dance of the Han (206 BC-AD 220) and Tang (618-907) dynasties tells the stories behind porcelain production and the emotions of modern figures, presenting a unique artistic conception and rich culture on the stage.

The dance is inspired by an artifact from the Tianjin Museum — the Kangxi polychrome cups of "Twelve Months of Flowers". For this artifact, each of the 12 cups is ornamented with strikingly natural flowers and beautiful matching poems. It is commonly referred to as the "Twelve Flower Fairies Polychrome Cups."

Moreover, the choreographer-director of this dance has also added the role of craftsman, vividly combing the dance performance and the traditional Chinese craftsmanship.

TNU's faculty and students demonstrated the free and easy temperament and cultural spirit pursued in Chinese classical dance, characterized by flowing movements, harmony of stillness and motion, and a combination of outward gentleness and inner strength.

"This cultural exchange opportunity has enabled us to respect and embrace different cultures. I will strive to use dance to convey more outstanding Chinese traditional culture to the world, tell the good Chinese story, and spread the voice of China," said Wei Xuan, a TNU student and performer of the dance.
