Updated: Mar 12, 2024

On March 10, Tianjin Normal University (TNU) held a signing ceremony with Jiangsu Beijianing Silicon Co., Ltd. for the transfer of the patent rights for the development technology of high-capacity silicon-carbon anode materials.

Zhao Zhongliang, chairman of Jiangsu Beijianing Silicon, and Professor Bai Xuejun, TNU’s vice president, attended the signing ceremony.

During the event, TNU, as the patent holder, signed a patent transfer contract for 9 invention patents with a total value of 9 million yuan ($1.25million) with researcher Zhang Bo from the School of Physics and Materials Science as the first inventor.

Bai stated that TNU is effectively improving the ecosystem for technological innovation, comprehensively strengthening basic research, coordinating the advancement of applied basic research and cutting-edge technological research, and continuously stimulating the vitality of technological innovation at the university. He hopes that both parties can take this collaborative achievement as an opportunity to engage in in-depth cooperation across multiple fields.

Zhao stated that Beijianing Silicon is responding to the trend of new energy technology development, focusing on the research and production of high-tech materials in the energy storage industry. The signing of the patent transfer agreement for high-capacity silicon-carbon anode material development technology with TNU is an important and forward-looking move with both immediate and long-term benefits, injecting more technological vitality into the company. The increasing investment in scientific innovation and closer cooperation with TNU will contribute to more emerging sci-tech achievements.

Lithium-ion battery materials are a nationally supported industry. Given that traditional battery materials can no longer meet the need for the development of high-capacity lithium-ion batteries, TNU has gathered advantageous resources to support Professor Zhang Bo in leading a team and carrying out industrial research and development on high-capacity silicon-carbon anode materials for nearly 10 years.

The current technological achievements have reached a high level of maturity, effectively enhancing the capacity of lithium-ion batteries and fundamentally solving some core issues in the industrialization process of high-capacity silicon-carbon materials.
