To further deepen cultural and educational exchanges and cooperation between China and the ASEAN, a training workshop for Malaysian Chinese language teachers was held on Feb 27 at Tianjin Normal University (TNU).
This event was funded by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) under the Chinese Ministry of Education.
Zhong Yinghua, president of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching (ISCLT), attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. In addition, leaders of the Chinese Cultural Center Malaysia, as well as the representatives from TNU's College of International Education and Exchange, participated in the event.

Zhong pointed out that the exchange and cooperation in Chinese language teaching with Malaysia is a primary focus of TNU. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Malaysia, providing both sides an important opportunity to strengthen educational cooperation and deepen cultural exchanges. With the unprecedented development of Chinese language education in Malaysia, the hosting of the local Chinese language teacher training workshop holds great significance. TNU is also expected to become a hub for educational and cultural exchanges.

Datuk Goh Hin San, chairman of the Chinese Cultural Center Malaysia, stated that the first Malaysian Chinese language teacher training workshop will become a milestone project in international Chinese education cooperation between China and Malaysia.
He expressed that the Chinese Cultural Center Malaysia has great confidence in the institute and is willing to engage in systematic and practical cooperation with TNU in various aspects, including the joint training of Chinese language teachers, development of online and offline credit courses, diverse Chinese language and cultural study tours, as well as exchange programs. Efforts will be made to dispatch 400 Malaysian international Chinese language study groups to Tianjin within the year, aiming to strengthen educational exchanges and cooperation between China and Malaysia.
Over the years, under the support of the CLEC and the ISCLT, TNU has been leveraging its advantages in international Chinese language teacher training. It has engaged in high-quality cooperative projects in international Chinese education and continuously created high-quality cooperative flagship projects to tell the story of China and Tianjin.
