The final of the 9th “Tin Ka Ping Cup” National Contest of Teaching Skills for Teachers-College Students was recently held in Zhejiang province. Students from Tianjin Normal University (TNU) won big in the final competition, sweeping two first prizes, three second prizes, two third prizes, and two honorable mentions.

This contest has been held for nine sessions, with the aim of constructing high-level basic education teacher teams and a focus on cultivating the educational and teaching abilities of normal students in the new era.

This year, the competition saw the participation of a total of 1,611 students from 226 universities across the country in the preliminary round. After the initial review, 485 students outperformed their peers to enter the finals. The final assessment included teaching design, multimedia courseware production, impromptu speaking, simulated teaching and blackboard writing. TNU’s students, combining solid teacher education course learning, rich teaching practice experience, and superb teaching innovation abilities, demonstrated their professional competence and teaching skills and won recognition in the teaching field.

TNU has always attached great importance to the education and training of the next generation educators. The series of teacher education courses, various types of professional competitions, and diverse educational teaching practices have formed a mode of "learning, teaching and research through competition". Going forward, TNU will continue to take the cultivation of students' comprehensive qualities as the core, comprehensively deepen the training of teaching abilities for its students, and strive to contribute to the development of TNU and the construction of an educationally strong nation.
