From Dec 21 to 22, 2023, “Chinese Language Teaching Idols” International Chinese Language Teaching Skills Best Practices was held in Beijing. The faculty and student team of Tianjin Normal University (TNU) swept multiple awards with their outstanding performance during the event.
The faculty team won the “Characteristic Course Team” award; the student team claimed the “Smart Education Team” award; and TNU received the “Excellent Organization Unit” award.
“Chinese Language Teaching Idols”, the most influential competition in the field of international Chinese language education, with the theme of “building high-quality Chinese classes” in 2023, attracted 142 universities and 178 teams nationwide. Additionally, overseas teachers from countries including the United Arab Emirates and Thailand also participated in the event. Over 100 Chinese teachers from about 50 countries and regions attended the event on site, with a total of 38,000 online viewers from home and abroad.
TNU’s faculty team wins the “Characteristic Course Team” award
TNU’s faculty team stood out from the competition as one of the six lesson presentation teams at the event. It introduced short videos and other multi-modal teaching tools and focused on the cultivation of students’ dialectical thinking, and promoting practical and “expression-oriented” teaching principles. Its excellent presentation gained unanimously positive comments from experts and education professionals from all over the world.
The student team receives the “Smart Education Team” award
The student team, composed of MTCSOL postgraduate students of 2022, guided by the "expression-oriented" teaching theory, gave an on-site lesson presentation at the event, focusing on the stories of people involved in the construction of the Belt and Road. Its performance was highly praised by the experts and representatives of other colleges present at the event.
The trophies for TNU
The “Chinese Language Teaching Idols” event has been held for five years, with TNU’s team having competed and been selected for the national presentation for three consecutive years. TNU has achieved six highest honorary titles, marking its core influence in the field of international Chinese education.
