On Dec 7, the World Chinese Language Conference took place in Beijing, with the participation of about 2,000 representatives from over 160 countries worldwide. Qu Kai, secretary of the CPC Tianjin Normal University (TNU) Committee, attended the event.
This three-day conference, acting as the highest-level, largest-scale, and most influential international exchange and cooperation event in the field of Chinese language education since the COVID-19 pandemic, has seen the attendance of diplomatic envoys, education authorities, relevant educational institutions, domestic and international universities, leaders of international language and cultural organizations, and experts and scholars in Chinese language education.
A signing ceremony for the joint programme in international Chinese language education was also held during the ongoing World Chinese Language Conference. Qu Kai, on behalf of TNU, signed a trilateral agreement on the joint cultivation of the International Chinese Language Education major with Ma Jianfei, director of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) of the Ministry of Education, and Qi Ruicheng, president of the University of Nairobi.

In July 2023, TNU invited the delegation of the Kenyan Ministry of Education to conduct a visit and hold a discussion on the comprehensive exchanges and cooperation between TNU and the University of Nairobi. During their visit, the delegation came to a consensus with the CLEC on issues related to high-quality Chinese language education in Kenya.
In response to the urgent need for local teacher training in Kenya, the CLEC decided to provide scholarships to support high-level teachers in Kenya coming to TNU for two years of professional study, granting degrees from both universities.
The signing of this agreement marks the beginning of the joint program between TNU and the University of Nairobi to cultivate high-level local teachers. It is expected to address the bottleneck issue of the lack of primary and secondary school teachers for formal Chinese inclusion in the Kenyan national education system. In addition, this program will facilitate the widespread implementation of Chinese language courses in Kenya, provide high-level Chinese language teachers, and promote the deep integration of Chinese language into the Kenyan national education system, which is of great significance.
